Working in Oils

This is another messy medium which I adore,
and that includes the pervasive smell of turpentine that many people loathe.

Oil painting imposes its own measured pace which matches my method of working.

The quicker drying acrylic paints do not enable me to do everything I want to do, although I do sometimes use them or Alkyd Oils for under-painting, or colouring a ground.

Oil paint gives a depth of tone and richness of colour which for me is unparalleled by any other artistic medium.
